My Endometriosis Journey

I guess we will take it all the way back with the facts.

I have always had god awful periods. It started when I was in 7th grade. Vomiting, spending hours in a warm bath, fetal position, hot water bottle, heating pad, all the pain relievers. You name it, I tried it. The pain was real. I was put on birth control in high school after a cyst was found on my ovary. It never really did anything to help my periods but it did make them regular, so I stayed on it.

Fast forward to 2018, I gave birth to my son. I had a normal pregnancy. Nothing crazy. I did go 41 weeks and he was born emergency c-section after 36 hours of labor.

I had the perfect c-section scar. It looked like a tiny line that was fading away as the months went by. Then in 2019 the period pain became different. I started getting "pulling" pains in my abdomen. I went to the OBGYN multiple times with the same complaint.

I ended up getting incredibly nauseous. I had food aversions at first. Eventually no food looked or felt good in my mouth. Water became this way for me as well. I lost a ton of weight. I ended up in the hospital on fluids at one point. Finally, we got an "exploratory surgery" setup for December of 2020. My doctor went in to my abdomen laparoscopically during this procedure as well as performed a D&C. He removed my appendix which was covered in "webbing" and disconnected my intestines from the inside of my c-section scar that were connected by the "webbing" growing outside of my uterus.

He also reported the lining of my uterus was incredibly thick. He had to scrape out a ton of old tissue. He said it was a miracle my son existed; a baby should not have been able to grow in there.

After recovery I felt great! Better than I had in years. It was not until the last 6 months, 2024, that I've begun to have symptoms again.

This time I have started doing a ton of research. I am doing everything in my power to lessen the pain and affects on my body.
